Yes folks, it’s that time of year again. Tomorrow begins September, and September brings many images to mind: Kids going back to school, return of the NFL, the beginning of fall, and of course deadly flu epidemics. What’s that? That last one doesn’t automatically spring to mind when you think of September? Give it a week. With kids going back to school/off to college, the H1N1 Swine Flu panic (remember that from back in April?) is about to rear its ugly head again. Why, just look at this headline from Foxnews.com:
Millions of kids, young adults and teachers are returning to classrooms and dorm rooms this week – prime real estate for the spread of H1N1 – and there’s still little agreement on how best to protect against the bug. Read the rest of this entry »
These plans will come to nothing if we truly learn from our grieving and our prayers during the 3 weeks of mourning and on Tisha B’Av. Ahavas Chinam will defeat sinas chinam, and our enemies will not be able to gain a toehold into our Land. HKB”H will see our unity and our love for one another, which is based on our love for Him and on our emunah, and He will honor our prayers, even if all of us have not yet “arrived” at our final destination within Yiddishkeit. No one will be able to put a wedge between any of us….even if a thousand careful analyses and plans are created to do just that.
In the hands of Obama the potter, American Jews are but clay. In his recent telephonic pep talk to a reported 1,000 American rabbis, the president invoked some of the most memorable (and theologically challenging) passages from the Rosh Hashanah liturgy to support his health policy agenda. He spoke about the new month of Elul, the meaning of this time of year and, oh, by the way, the crazy distortions of all those who have dared to object to his massive experiment with one-sixth of the American economy.
Some good prep-work from Obama’s staff (“Sir, it’s pronounced eh-LOOL”), some happy talk, and the president apparently had these mostly left-leaning rabbis eating out of his hand. In these kinds of calls, there is always an “ask,” and Obama’s was simple: Proselytize to your congregants and tell them the good news about health care reform.
When I read this I couldn’t believe it. Our president really does think he is some sort of God. Imagine if President Bush had resorted to something like this. Hey Zero – Leave us real Jews alone! We dont want to hear it!
For all of my non Jew friends – A Rabbis Sermon on the High Holidays is supposed to arouse his congregants to do Teshuva, or become a more committed Jew. This is not a time to sell some half baked socialist health care program to Jews attending Holy Day Services.
Obama has no doubt seen some of the congressionally sponsored town hall meetings with a lot of angry constituents saying some unkind things about him and his health care agenda. If the rabbis follow Obama’s directive to speak about health care, they might well invent a new phrase for the lexicon: “Rosh Hashanah riots.”
The world is so much better that a murdering tyranny, that made it his life mission to deny health care to the really sick and old, died today. The commie murder should have died at the end of a noose or an electric chair IMHO but a least he is no longer with us.
Following is footage of activists pushing for a boycott of Israel products in a supermarket it France. Deshelving a store’s products with no intention of purchasing, with every intention of costing a store money in lost products and re-shelving is vandalism, and should be a prosecutable crime. At the very least, when a group like this enters a store, they should be escorted out post haste.
The 1929 Arab Terror Attack: When Hebron Became Occupied Territory
by Sammy Benoit
“Hebron was the first piece of land ever purchased by a Jew in Israel. Approximately 38 centuries ago, the patriarch Abraham purchased a cave in Hebron to bury his beloved wife Sarah. Jews have owned land in Hebron from then until the early part of the 20th century.
On Friday, August 23, 1929, that changed. Things began to stir as the Jewish community was preparing for the Sabbath:”
Sometimes it’s nice to sit back and wax nostalgic. Why, just 1 year ago our economy was booming, with a record high Dow, Sarah Palin was about to light the Conservative base on fire, and Barack Obama was promising his election would lead to a post-racial America where we would all live in peace and harmony and rainbows and unicorns, Amen.
After a long hard week of work Shabbos approaches, thank God. I visited an old friend at her business this afternoon. Charlene cares for her elderly father and Stanley now sits at her antique shop with her all day. His Alzheimer’s prevents his memories yet he smiles and acts friendly as if….
Charlene lamented about how bad her business has been and how she struggles. Most of us that own small businesses can relate. We shared our gratitude for all that we have and how blessed we have been in years past. I reminded her that Hashem (God) provides for us all – always.
On Shabbos it is so easy to remember what is so easy to forget. We can be humble and spend some time with the Almighty in praise.
The following is part of the prayers after we eat – We remember that God provides food for all – and that we depend on the Almighty – exclusively.
“Yisbarach shimcha bifee kol chai
tamid l’olam vaed
“Your name will be blessed by the mouth of EVERY LIVING BEING Forever and for always”
(to be sung with all the joy in our hearts)
Good Shabbos to my Jewish friends and Peace to all!
