Likud Min. Landau: US Demanding Much More Than 3-Month Freeze

Contrary to reports in the media that portray the U.S. as giving Israel a “package” of “benefits” for another three months of building freeze in Judea and Samaria, Washington is actually demanding a lot more for its largesse – far more than Israel can safely agree to, said Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau.

Landau, along with other ministers and Knesset Members – including many Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu ministers, and coalition chairman Ze’ev Elkin – are up in arms over the proposed renewal of the building freeze in Judea and Samaria, and have vowed to fight it with all means at their disposal.

Part of the fight, Landau said in a Voice of Israel Radio interview Tuesday morning, was changing the perception of the “deal” the United States. had ostensibly offered Israel for the freeze extension.

According to Landau, the conditions for the deal are far different than those being portrayed in the Israeli media, which is telling Israelis that in exchange for a “small” Israeli gesture of an additional three month freeze, Jerusalem will receive a bundle of benefits, including additional advanced F-35 fighter jets, and an American guarantee to veto any anti-Israel proposals at the United Nations and other world bodies – and to similarly smash any attempt by the Palestinian Authority to seek U.N. approval for a declaration of independence for an Arab state in Judea and Samaria.

But the United States doesn’t just want a three month extension, said Landau. When asked why he was opposed to so much benefit for “only” three more months of a building freeze, Landau responded, “Israel has failed to learn from the past. President Obama is ignoring previous promises, also written in a letter, that President Bush presented to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Those promises, too, were portrayed as a great diplomatic achievement.

“All the American promises share a similar characteristic – they lack specifics, and are not carried out if they are found to be damaging to American interests.” That was the case with the 2003 letter Bush presented Sharon, ostensibly recognizing Israel’s right to retain the “settlement blocs” in the event of a deal with the PA; in the end, that American promise has been rescinded by President Barack Obama because he has decided it is in American interests to do so.

Oh look …. There is a photo of Mt. Zion. Wow.

I am not a Zionist, I am a Reformed Christian, meaning I got remade by God; and I am a Hebrew, meaning one from the other side.

I enjoy allusions to Mt. Zion. An allusion is a reference and reflection to a person, place or event; an allusion may be drawn from history, geography, literature, or religion.

I enjoy the allusion to Mt Zion, in the song …We’re Marching To Zion … written by Isaac Watts with refrain by Robert Lowry and music by Robert Lowry

There is great comfort for those who trust in God as the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 125:1: “They that trust in Jehovah are as Mount Zion, Which shall not be moved: it abideth forever. The mountains are round about Jerusalem: And Jehovah is round about His people, Henceforth, even for evermore.” … And comfort comes from Psalm 48:2: “Beautiful for elevation, the joy of the whole earth,Is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north; The city of the great king.”

Once can see a photo of Mt Zion courtesy of Bible Places.

God moved the Jewish people to return to the land, that He gave to their fathers. And on On May 14, 1948 Ben-Gurion announced the Jewish State in Palestine, to be called Medinat Israel (the State of Israel).

I ask: What will be the outcome of this Aliyah?

Prophet Jeremiah provides the answer in Jeremiah 33:3-7: ”Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it: It is even the time of Jacob’s trouble.”

Why, just why would God bring on such trouble?

CenturyOne provides an excerpt of the book Palestine Repeopled by Rev. James Neil, MA, Formerly Incumbent of Christ Church, Jerusalem 1871 to 1874: “In the twenty-second chapter of Ezekiel, Ezekiel 22:19-22, we have a dark picture of Israel’s impiety, followed by a threatening of their long dispersion: ‘I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee!’ But even this long discipline will not be sufficient, therefore we read in the following verses. — ‘Because ye all become dross, behold, therefore, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As they gather silver, and copper, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it, so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will lay you on, and melt you. Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof. As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof. And ye shall know that I, Jehovah, have poured out my fury upon you.’” These terrible final judgments are to be correctional. The Lord “doth not willingly afflict and grieve the children of men,” and in the issue we learn that the coming sorrows of the Jewish people are to be blessed of God to their conversion, and their restoration to the Divine favour. In view, however, of this time of Jacob’s trouble, the last and worst of eighteen centuries of suffering, it will be seen at once how these very mountains, which served to make Jerusalem secure before the days of cannon, will only add so many new terrors to the siege of the future!
