I think Netanyahu just sold out Israel. Did Netanyahu just sell out Israel?

Posted by avideditor on June 14, 2009

I am sorry but any call for a “pali” state in Israel is a sell out. The jihadis can do there best to rewrite history but they are not going to fool me. Jordan was created for the muslim. Israel for the jews. I hope his speach point that out but it did not.

Israel is still playing the price for giving up the Gaza Strip. Giving the muslims any more of Israel is a mistake. IMHO

Certain bloggers I used to look up to disagree with me. I draw a line in the sand on this Issue. Israel should never trade any land for peace IMHO. Read other views at Atlas or Holiger Awakens I hope they change their minds soon before they mislead other with their poisonous interpretation.

You can read the transcript below.

There are people that I used to respect making the assertion that his speaech was

Honored guests, citizens of Israel.
Peace has always been our people’s most ardent desire. Our prophets gave the world the vision of peace, we greet one another with wishes of peace, and our prayers conclude with the word peace.

We are gathered this evening in an institution named for two pioneers of peace, Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat, and we share in their vision.

On the last video of this series, at about the 2:18 marker, a caller challenged R’ Kahane:

“I want to ask Rabbi Kahane, what gives a Jewish guy from the Bronx the right to go to the Palestine and request, and he has stated clearly that he wants to throw the Palestinian out of the West Bank and everywhere so there’ll be enough Jews in there to have a majority? What give him that right to be an American citizen and then say (unclear) the Palestinians have no place to be a citizen of….??

R’ Kahane: “Okay, lets get things clearer now. Really, what you’re really asking me is, ‘What rights did Jews have come and found any kind of a Jewish state?’ Period. Not just the West Bank. That’s your question really. And, obviously I understand that. You are opposed to a Jewish state. Period. You think that it is Palestine, that there is no difference between Jaffa and Hebron. You think that Haifa is also yours. I understand that.

“The reason that Jews have a right to be there is because, it’s our country. I am a Bible believer. G-d gave us that country. And Jews have lived there for 4,000 years. Long before there were Arabs there was a Jewish state. It was ended by Babylon. And the Jews came back again and founded a second state. And that was ended by the Romans. Not one day passed during the 1900 years of Jewish exile in which we didn’t pray three times a day to [towards] Jerusalem and not to [towards] Mecca, to go back to Zion. That’s why it’s our land, and that’s why it’s our country and that’s why it’s our state.”

Rabbi Kahane’s father, Rabbi Yechezkel Sharaga Kahane, was born in Safed, Ottoman Palestine, now Israel. By the logic of the caller quoted above (and many, many Muslims/Arabs as well as other detractors of the state of Israel) if Rabbi Kahane had lost his right to return to Israel because his native born father chose to emigrate, then so has every single Arab who left during the 1948 War of Independence.

But Rabbi Kahane had a better answer than mine. Not mere family roots in the land, or residency standards did the good Rabbi cite. No. Rabbi Kahane reminds us all: Our claims are based on the Torah of HKB”H. G-d gave the land to us 4,000 years ago. Eretz Israel is our land, has been our land, we never relinquished our right to the land, not in over 1900 years years of exile.

Rabbi Meier Kahane HY”D, was later assassinated by El Sayyid Nosair after a speech in Manhattan, New York at the Marriot hotel. Nosair was tried and acquitted on the murder charges, but was convicted on assault and illegal firearm possession charges.

According to Wikipedia: The judge in the trial, Justice Alvin Schlesinger, said that the jury’s acquittal of Nosair on the murder charge “was against the overwhelming weight of evidence and was devoid of common sense and logic”. The judge added that “I believe the defendant conducted a rape of this country, of our Constitution and of our laws, and of people seeking to exist peacefully together.” He sentenced Nosair to 7 1/3 to 22 years in prison, the maximally allowed term

During the 1993 World Trade Center bombing trial, prosecutors presented new evidence and convicted Nosair of murdering Rabbi Kahane and of conspiracy in the Trade Center bombing.

In yet another tragedy to befall the Kahane family, Rabbi Kahane’s son, Benyamin Zeev Kahane, HY”D and daughter-in-law, Talia Kahane HY”D, were later murdered in their car, while 5 of their 6 children with them at the time, aged 2 months to 10 years, were left alive in the backseat of the car. Some of the children were injured, one seriously.

The Jewish Press blog has some interesting observations on Professor Jerome Segal.
