NGO Monitor Debunks Israel ‘War Crimes’

Posted by Glezele Vayne on August 7, 2009

by Hillel Fendel

(IsraelNN.com) Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor has debunked, at length, recent accusations by Human Rights Watch (HRW) that Israel committed “war crimes” during Operation Cast Lead.

The HRW, in its official report and accompanying press releases and interviews, accuses the IDF of using drones to launch precise weapons during the Gaza operation, leading to wrongful civilian deaths. The entire case is based on allegations from only six ambiguous incidents in which 29 civilians are said to have been killed, NGO Monitor states.

HRW’s case against Israel, in which Israel is repeatedly accused of war crimes, is entirely speculative, according to NGO Monitor, “but the conclusions are stated with absolute assurance, as if the evidence was totally clear.”  Robert Hewson, editor of the prestigious Jane’s Air-Launched Weapons, is quoted as stating, “Human Rights Watch makes a lot of claims and assumptions about weapons and drones, all of which is still fairly speculative, because we have so little evidence.”

NGO Monitor’s objective, its website states, is “to end the practice used by certain self-declared ‘humanitarian NGOs [non-governmental organizations]’ of exploiting the label ‘universal human rights values’ to promote politically and ideologically motivated anti-Israel agendas.”

Inconclusive Nature of Arab Testimony
For instance, the report accuses of war crimes the Israelis who operated the drones that were allegedly involved in the attacks. Much of the evidence against them, however, is based on Arab eyewitnesses who claim to have not seen Israelis or Hamas targets in the area at the times of the attacks. HRW takes these claims at face value, despite the inconclusive nature of this testimony, and despite details provided by the Israeli government’s report on the Gaza combat that refute this speculation.

These eyewitnesses are “not likely to have known whether there were legitimate military targets in the area,” NGO Monitor states. “These [targets] could have included command and control centers, weapons’ storage sites, and other Hamas facilities… HRW’s reliance on this evidence reflects two highly speculative assumptions: (1) that the presence or absence of visible Israeli forces in an area is a central criteria; (2) that there were no legitimate targets (Hamas fighters, weapons, communications assets, etc.) in the area, visible or not visible… HRW propagates the misleading concept that there were no legitimate targets unless locals, UN staff, journalists or human rights activists (unnamed) claim to have observed ‘active” local fighters or fighting.”

Hizb ut-Tahrir in America

Actively seeking a Caliphate in the USA

On July 19, 2009, Hizb ut-Tahrir (“Party of Liberation”; HT) held a recruitment conference at the Hilton Oak Lawn hotel just outside Chicago, Illinois The event was entitled the Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam and reportedly garnered 300 attendees.

While 300 attendees may not make a movement, the meeting is significant and its occurrence should sound warning bells in the Chicago Muslim community and for all Americans. Hizb ut-Tahrir is a harbinger of much deeper efforts to convert Muslim children to an ideology that is rooted in a belief that is contrary to the liberties and ideals that Americans hold dear.

While Hizb ut-Tahrir may be new to most Americans, its roots in the United States date back over a decade to Southern California and Chicago. The organization was first founded in 1953 by a Palestinian qadi or shari’a judge, and today is a global Islamist network with hundreds of thousands of adherents from England to Indonesia. It actively seeks to create a Caliphate based in shari’a law.

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s platform lies at the center of the contest of ideas and what it means to be a Muslim.

Groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir use the entire faith community, or ummah, of Muslims for a specific global political agenda to give susceptible youth an identity that takes precedence over what it is to be American, and our inherent allegiance to the Constitution and its legal system. Western governments created by the people and for the people are in direct conflict with an ideology that proclaims law comes directly from the hand of God and has only one form – their theocratic form.

The problem with evil is that often it is only shocking and obvious in hindsight. As a nation slides towards evil, and then begins to sink, ever so slowly, into evil it all looks so banal. So unremarkable. So…everyday. It is not for nothing that the comparisons between the proverbial “frog in the pot of water” is cited when describing the direction America is taking. We are all of us, asleep. Anesthetized. We don’t want to move out of our comfort zones.

Please, take stock of what is swirling around you. If it’s not on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC…it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.  What is happening? For that, it is important to listen to the following:

‘Breaking the Silence’ vs. ‘Soldiers Speak Out’ on Cast Lead

Posted by Glezele Vayne on July 19, 2009

BS”D

by Maayana Miskin

(IsraelNN.com) A new controversy has broken out over the three-week Cast Lead counter-terror operation that the IDF waged in Gaza earlier this year. Two organizations have come out with video testimony from IDF soldiers reporting what they saw and heard during the intense fighting.

The first group, Soldiers Speak Out, has collected several testimonies in English in which soldiers recall witnessing war crimes perpetrated by Hamas. One describes finding rocket launchers in an ambulance whose drivers claimed to be transporting an elderly patient.

Others list the measures they took to protect Arab civilians, from withholding fire on terrorists to tidying up civilian homes after entering them for combat purposes.

The second group, Breaking the Silence (Shovrim Shtika), has collected several testimonies of soldiers saying they saw soldiers causing damage to Arab property, or heard rumors that Arab civilians were used as human shields. Unlike the Soldiers Speak Out videos, the charges set forth by Breaking the Silence were widely reported by international media outlets, including the Associated Press, Reuters, AFP, CNN and The Guardian.

While Soldiers Speak Out testimonies were given by soldiers who used their full names and identified themselves, the Breaking the Silence videos were given anonymously, and soldiers’ faces were blurred.

In March of this year, several major Israeli and international media outlets published testimony from IDF soldiers claiming that the army had committed war crimes in Gaza. Subsequent investigations showed that the reports were based on rumors and media reports, and that none of the soldiers who made serious allegations regarding harm to Arab civilians had witnessed any such incidents themselves.

Dhimmitude in Eretz Israel

Posted by Glezele Vayne on July 8, 2009

“Yet perhaps most galling of all to effendi (Arab landlords) leadership was the Jew who would settle the land. This was not the dhimmi Jew — cowering to survive, as in Arab lands — but a person who commanded equal treatment. The outrage which that insistence created, among those weaned on the tradition of Muslim supremacy, would infect the multi-ethnic Arabic-speaking Muslim workers of Palestine as well: for centuries Jews had been objects to oppress and despise.” (From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters, pg 172)

Fayyad Promises Rights for Jews in PA State

by Maayana Miskin

(IsraelNN.com) During an appearance Saturday in Aspen, Colorado, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad promised that Jews who choose to live in a future Palestinian Authority-led Arab state in Judea and Samaria will be granted equal rights. His statements stood in contrast to the PA’s current policies regarding Jewish residents of the region.

Fayyad’s statements were made as part of a question and answer session during the Aspen Ideas Festival. The event was covered by the Aspen Daily News.

“The kind of state that we want to have, that we aspire to have, is one that would definitely espouse high values of tolerance, co-existence, mutual respect and deference to all cultures, religions,” Fayyad said in response to a question about the possibility for a Jewish minority to remain among residents of a PA Arab state.

Jews who remain in Judea and Samaria if Israel withdraws “will enjoy these rights and certainly will not enjoy any less rights that Israeli Arabs enjoy now in the state of Israel,” he added.

The promise of equal rights came in response to a question from former CIA Director James Woolsey, who asked if Israeli Jews who chose to live in Judea and Samaria would be given the rights granted to Arab citizens of Israel. Among those rights are the right to vote, freedom of worship, free speech, “and most importantly, be able to go to sleep at night without worrying someone is going to kick down the door and kill them,” according to Woolsey.

Fayyad’s statements in favor of co-existence and equality sharply contradict current PA policy regarding Jews in Judea and Samaria. The PA considers all Jewish communities in the area to be illegal, and has demanded that all be dismantled and their residents removed from the region.

Fatah Forces Jews out of Jerusalem Home; Arabs Destroy It

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

(IsraelNN.com) Arabs destroyed a Jewish home in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem last week after forcing a Jewish contractor to leave. Both the Arabs and Jews claim that police were involved, but a police spokesman said he knows of no activity in the area.

The Bethlehem-based Maan news agency, which is closely affiliated with the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority, reported Wednesday morning that senior Fatah leaders prevented Jews from entering the home. The Fatah officials, in the presence of police, reportedly convinced the Jews to leave the property, allegedly owned by an Arab since the 1940s.

Aryeh King, whose Israel Land Fund is heavily involved in the Jewish presence in eastern Jerusalem, said that the incident actually took place two weeks ago and that the police evicted the Jews.

Historical Accuracy Has Become Radical

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 28, 2009

BS”D

According to some reliable sources, approximately 3,000 Jews are slated to be expelled from their homes beginning as early as next week. I wonder what it’s like preparing for Shavuos knowing that in a few days, one will be tossed out of one’s home? Most of these people have great strength and faith in HKB”H, so I imagine they are not allowing next week’s scheduled events to put a damper on their Shavuos celebrations. — Ellie Katz

Judenrein Palestine?

Rachel Neuwirth, writing in Israeli National News (Jan. 6, 2004):

Why is it that people are proposing a Middle East peace plan that will make Judea and Samaria Judenrein (the Nazi term for a place with no Jews)?

It is the historic homeland and birthplace of the Jewish people, yet many world leaders – including every American president – believe that the removal of Jewish communities from Judea and Samaria is a crucial prerequisite for a peaceful resolution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Unfortunately, every Israeli prime minister has been pressured to follow this policy.

Jews have lived in Judea and Samaria for thousands of years. In fact, the Jewish religion and people were birthed in Hebron. We know of the ancient Jewish presence there from both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles and from abundant archaeological and documentary evidence.

No one denies that the oldest document showing the historical connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel, including Judea and Samaria (a.k.a. the West Bank), is the Bible. Genesis 24:18 says: “And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the terebinths of Mamre, which are in Hebron.” And the world’s oldest documentation of real estate being purchased for full price is also in the Bible (see Genesis 23:9). And for those who doubt biblical references, there is substantial evidence in archaeological findings (see http://www.sciencedaily.com/encyclopedia/History_of_ancient_Israel_and_Judah ).

Historically, the Jewish homeland included what is today called Judea and Samaria, the Golan Heights, and a considerable part of today’s Jordan. The land was inhabited mainly by Jews and was ruled by Jews. Therefore, Lord Robert Cecil, former acting British foreign secretary, was right to use the name “Judea” for the whole land in his famous remark: “Our wish is that Arabian countries shall be for the Arabs, Armenia for the Armenians, and Judea for the Jews.” (December 2, 1917; see http://www.esek.com/jerusalem/iudaea.html .)

The Jewish presence there has been continuous, except for 19 years from 1948 to 1967 when the area became Judenrein . And during that 19 year period, the Jordanians and Arabs of the remaining portion of “Palestine” desecrated Jewish holy sites and cemeteries in an attempt to deny that the Jews ever lived there.

Those who advocate the dismantling of the Jewish communities in this territory are advocating a policy of ethnic cleansing. This may sound extreme, but from the early 1900s, the Arabs carried out a policy of ethnic cleansing that included the massacre and pogroms in 1929 and 1936 in Hebron. Both the spirit and practice of ethnic cleansing are being continued in the current conflict (see http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_mandate_grand_mufti.php ).

So, what did UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan mean in his 2001 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech when he said, “A genocide begins with the killing of one man — not for what he has done, but because of who he is. A campaign of ‘ethnic cleansing’ begins with one neighbor turning on another.”

Does this not also apply to the Israeli Jews who have re-established homes in Judea and Samaria? Should they be ethnically cleansed from the heart of their historical homeland? Does the Nobel recipient not know a real victim of ethnic cleansing when he sees one?

The same people and countries that condemned ethnic cleansing in the Balkans, Cyprus, Rwanda and Tibet totally reverse themselves when it comes to the right of Jewish people to live in the lands of their historic patrimony. If Chinese people were forbidden to live in China, Buddhists barred from Tibet, or Irish-Catholics banned from South Boston, there would be a tremendous outcry against such injustices. But where is the outcry against the removal of Jews from Judea — their historical homeland?

A Palestinian History Book

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 20, 2009

BS”D

by Tom Mountain (a columnist for The Jewish Advocate)

A whole group of people was created overnight.

“Show me a history book of the Palestinians,” retorted Miriam Levinger to this novice student journalist over two decades ago in Kiryat Arba, in Judea, otherwise known as the southern half of the West Bank.

In 1968, Mrs. Levinger, wife of Rabbi Moshe Levinger, the leader of the Gush Emunim movement, had, with the tacit support of the Israeli government, spearheaded the return of Jews to the Hebron area. And thus came Kiryat Arba, a thriving modern Jewish township overlooking Hebron, that sacred Biblical city where Arabs had massacred the centuries-old Jewish community in 1929. The Levingers had moved there to try to set things right by reestablishing a Jewish presence in Hebron.

On October 31, 1998, in violation of his prior campaign promises, Benyamin Netanyahu signed away the vast majority of Chevron (Hebron) to Yassir Arafat.

On October 31, 1998, in violation of his prior campaign promises, Benyamin Netanyahu signed away the vast majority of Chevron (Hebron) to Yassir Arafat.

By the time I met her in 1983, Miriam Levinger, once of Brooklyn, had already been in Judea for over fifteen years. She was there to stay. Not only that, but, she assured me, her children – she eventually had eleven – would inevitably branch out to help create more settlements in Judea and Samaria (the northern half of the West Bank).

Back to the Palestinian history book, or lack there of.

Mrs. Levinger elaborated on the premise that a Palestinian history book did not exist because the very concept of a Palestinian people did not exist until the Arab nations and their proxy, the PLO, chose to invent the Palestinian national movement in 1964. It was all a propaganda ploy to attack Israel and challenge Jewish claims to the land.

Tough, no-nonsense rhetoric from an Orthodox mother who was compelled to walk through Hebron with a Uzi submachine gun for protection. Miriam Levinger was absolutely correct in her simple analysis of the situation. But she was not alone.

“Palestine is a term the Zionists invented…. Our country for centuries was part of Syria,” remarked Arab leader Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi to the British Peel Commission in 1937. Mr. Abdul-Hadi knew what he was talking about.

Jihad = Mein Kampf – Part 4

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 18, 2009

BS”D

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” — Edmund Burke, Irish philosopher, statesman (1729-1797)

In Arabic, “jihad” literally means “self-struggle”. So, say apologists for Islam. Just as the powers that be are softening our borders, by not protecting them, the jihadi softens his definition of jihad so it is compatible with Western thinking. Allowing ourselves to become entangled in politically correct ideas and language is meant to disarm us, to weaken our resolve to defend ourselves and our way of  life.

Jihad refers to the Muslim’s internal struggle. We are meant to think the concept of “jihad’ is solely about an internal, spiritual struggle. No. This is only part of the truth, says Walid Shoebat, a former PLO terrorist in part 3 of this series.  He goes on to tell us that “Mein Kampf” also means “my struggle”. He then asks us, what and who, was Hitler struggling against? Who are the jihadis struggling against?

Below are the quotes from part 4 of the Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West, a 10 part series found on Youtube. This time, I didn’t pick and choose quotes. The more I watch this series, the more each quote, each clip demonstrates to me the connection between the concept of “jihad”, the Muslim’s struggle against the Jewish people, the West, and all non-Muslims, all moderate Muslims, and “Mein Kampf”, Hitler’s struggle against the Jewish people and all who refused to submit to his view of things. Jihadis Are Funny As Hell

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 17, 2009

Here’s a few particularly delicious quotes from Sultan Knish on one of the Jewish people’s most effective weapons, shared with with nations for free. Hey, we’re suppose to be a light. So, lighten up everyone.

For more, go visit Sultan Knish. After that, do your patriotic duty, write those satirical posts and make those sizzling, funny and disrespectful videos.

“When Mark Twain said that, “Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand”, he was speaking as part of a long tradition of American humorists who satirized the great and powerfull, who knew that nothing so much cuts a puffed up ego to size and the insecure man hiding behind it, as a well told joke. Islam in our time is the biggest puffed up ego there is. A fradulent religion based on the plagirism of a vicious desert warlord turned into a global empire. There is not one thing new in Islam. Its only claim to power is that it is wielded by men more ruthless and murderous than any other today.”

“We’re not just the resevoir of the world’s talent but its humor too and humor is the ultimate weapon against the balloon that is Islam. Islam can only expand by force. It can’t leverage any real military force against us. Instead it expands by intimidation, by conformity, by deception, by political correctness. It has no defense against laughter. Men who are so insecure they would kill over a stray word here or there, can’t stand up to being laughed at, to being ridiculed, to have their cherished values transformed into a laughingstock.”

“So go on telling those jokes. When the arguments run out and the rhetoric is exhausted, humor can always be fresh and a weapon no one can argue against. Get out your photoshops and make those pictures. Get out your Windows Movie Makers and make those videos. There’s one thing Muslims can’t stand above all else and that’s mockery. It drives them mad and when that happens they show their true face beneath the false polite masks they so often wear, in a way that not even liberals can long ignore.”

I found this fascinating comment at Haaretz online, under their article, Jewish extremism: How real is the threat?

To: Avraham Goldberg and all readers.

The Temple Mount is not holy to the Muslims. It is merely a trick in their battle to destroy the Jewish People.

The Dome of the Rock was built by Caliph Abd al-Malik in 687 as a gift to the Jewish People. Caliph built the Dome, as a place of prayer for the Jews till the Temple would be rebuilt.

It only became a Muslim ‘holy site’ in 1939 by order of the anti-Semitic Mufti of Jerusalem.

May G-D rebuild the Temple speedily in our days!

Killing Civilians: A Muslim View

Tali Hatuel, her 4 daughters were brutally massacred. Yasir Arafat said she was a terrorist because she lived in Gush Katif. Tali was expecting her 5th baby, a son, who was also murdered.

According to Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Authority, pregnant Jewish women and young Jewish girls who make their homes in the Gaza Strip are “terrorists,” while the “Palestinians” who murder them are “heroic martyrs.”

On Sunday, two Palestinian Arab gunmen mercilessly shot to death Tali Hatuel, 36, and her four daughters, all under the age of 12. Hatuel’s unborn son was also killed.

But rather than condemn their murder, the Arafat-controlled Voice of Palestine slammed Israel for rocketing a Gaza City Hamas radio station in response. Jerusalem Newswire

Between hyperbole and credibility.

An often-discussed topic of considerable controversy is the notion of how many Muslims support killing civilians as a tactic. Numbers range from a tiny fraction up to 50% of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.

Those who consider themselves more liberal tend to lean toward the tiny fraction estimate, while conservatives lean toward the larger numbers. Part of what drives the thinking of liberals is their tendency to see things from a more idyllic viewpoint, plus their belief that few people, if any, are evil and that at the core of everyone there is goodness to be found. This view tends to discount the impact of living in a society where virtually every aspect of daily life is under strict adherence to fundamentalism, and where jihad for Allah is considered the single holiest act of a true follower of the faith. The martyr-killer is considered a hero and the martyr’s family is showered with gifts and held in a place of honor among fellow believers.

The foregoing assessment is corroborated by a former Muslim terrorist, Walid Shoebat, who was born and raised in the Middle East, and who spent time in jail for his involvement with jihad. However, in the mid-1990s, he renounced Islam. By doing so he became an “enemy of Islam” and has been living under threat of death ever since. These days, in spite of being under a fatwa, Walid writes books, and speaks at churches, synagogues and numerous other events about Islam and jihad.

One of the reasons there has been considerable debate on this flashpoint topic is that statistics are not readily available. However, recently a report was published providing information which allows some deductive conclusions to be drawn.
