The Rabbi Who Conquered Hebron With a Shofar

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 24, 2009

Hat tip: Rabbi Tovia Singer, on the recent radio show entitled, PA Peace Plan: Iran to Share Control Over Temple Mount and Kotel

“The story of our people’s return to Machpela after 700 years was best told by Rabbi Shlomo Goren, chief rabbi of the Israel Defense Forces during the 1967 war. Fresh from the liberation of Jerusalem and the Western Wall, he wanted to be among the first Jews to return to the ancient city of the patriarchs. Holding the rank of general, he joined the armed forces stationed at the recently captured Etzion Bloc, on their way to Hebron. On the evening of 28 Iyar, before retiring for the night, he asked to be wakened when the soldiers began their march into Hebron the following day.

The next morning he awoke, only to find himself alone with his driver. Realizing that he had been left behind, he ordered his driver to begin the 20-minute journey into Hebron, expecting to meet the rest of the army en route.

Rabbi Goren thought it peculiar that he hadn’t encountered any Israeli soldiers on the road and assumed that they had already secured the city in record time. Driving into Hebron, he was greeted by the sight of white sheets fluttering from the windows and rooftops of Arab homes. The rabbi theorized that this must be fear of retaliation for their 1929 pogrom in which 67 Jews were massacred and many more wounded.

Leaving his driver and clutching a Torah scroll, Rabbi Goren quickly made his way toward the Herodian walls which now surround Machpela; the Tomb of the Patriarchs. Once inside he blew the shofar, just as he had done 24 hours earlier at the Western Wall. Only afterward did he discover that when he left the Etzion base, the rest of the forces were on the other side of the hill, making plans for the attack on Hebron. The army was astonished to find that its chief rabbi had single-handedly conquered a city of 80,000 Arabs. Jews had finally returned to Hebron and the sacred burial place of their patriarchs!?”

Notes found at WeJew on this video: “… this video is dated – that Sharon and Olmert became betrayers of their own words in this video – and that the Shalhevet shuk neighborhood was violently destroyed by the Israeli government itself. However, the number of Jewish families has continued to expand despite the efforts of the far left-wing in Israel to remove all Jewish presence from our ancient city – the second most holy city in Jewish tradition.”

Sakharov Widow: World Ignores Shalit Due to Anti-Semitism

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 23, 2009

by Hillel Fendel

(IsraelNN.com) The widow of Nobel Peace Prize winner Andrei Sakharov, Yelena Bonner, delivered a particularly strong pro-Israel speech in Oslo this week. She blasted the Quartet’s peace-making efforts, particularly those of Russia, spoke against the 2-state solution and so-called ‘right of return,’ and took the international community to task for not taking up Gilad Shalit’s cause.

Bonner spoke at the three-day Oslo Freedom Forum, a gathering billed as the “human rights” response to Durban II. Over 200 participants from more than 30 countries attended the conference, bringing together some of the world’s leading minds to honor survivors of political oppression and persecution.

Bonner was born to a Jewish Communist activist mother in 1923, and saw her parents arrested in 1937 during Stalin’s Great Purge; her stepfather was executed, and her mother was imprisoned and exiled. She became active in the Soviet human rights movement in the late 1960s, and in 1972, married nuclear physicist and non-Jewish human rights activist Andrei Sakharov. When her husband was awarded the 1975 Nobel Peace Prize, but was barred from travel by the Soviets, she represented him at the ceremony in Oslo.

Excerpts from her speech:

…At the age of 14, I was left without my parents. My father was executed, my mother spent 18 years in prison and exile. My grandmother raised me and my younger brother. The poet Vladimir Kornilov, who suffered the same fate, wrote: ‘And it felt that in those years we had no mothers. We had grandmothers.’ There were hundreds of thousands of such children……Read Sakharov’s Memoirs. It’s a pity his Diaries haven’t been translated; they were published in Russia in 2006. Apparently, the West isn’t interested now in Sakharov.

The West isn’t very interested in Russia either, a country that no longer has real elections, independent courts, or freedom of the press. Russia is a country where journalists, human rights activists, and migrants are killed regularly, almost daily. And extreme corruption flourishes of a kind and extent that never existed earlier in Russia or anywhere else. So what do the Western mass media discuss mainly? Gas and oil — of which Russia has a lot. Energy is its only political trump card, and Russia uses it as an instrument of pressure and blackmail… Russia will remain the way it is now for decades, unless there is some violent upheaval.

…They say people are coming together — but in reality, they are growing apart. And that isn’t because an economic depression suddenly burst forth, and swine flu to boot. [It] began on September 11, 2001. At first, anger and horror was provoked by the terrorists who knocked down the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and by their accomplices in London, Madrid and other cities, and by the shahids, suicide bombers who blew themselves up at public spaces like discotheques and wedding parties, whose families were rewarded $25,000 each by Saddam Hussein.

Later, Bush was blamed for everything, and as always, the Jews — that is, Israel… So it is about Israel and the Jews that I will speak… At one time, the Nobel Peace Prize was the highest moral award of our civilization. But after December 1994, when Yasser Arafat became one of the three new laureates, its ethical value was undermined. I haven’t always greeted each selection of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Storting with joy, but that one shocked me. And to this day, I cannot understand and accept the fact that Andrei Sakharov and Yasir Arafat, now posthumously, share membership in the club of Nobel laureates.

In many of Sakharov’s publications… [he] wrote and spoke about Israel. I have a collection of citations of his writing on this topic. If it were published in Norway, then many Norwegians would be surprised at how sharply their contemporary view of Israel differs from the view of Sakharov. Here are several citations from Sakharov: …

“All wars that Israel has waged have been just, forced upon it by the irresponsibility of Arab leaders.” “With all the money that has been invested in the problem of Palestinians, it would have been possible long ago to resettle them and provide them with good lives in Arab countries.”

Warning to Jewish Centers: U.S. & Canada (6 months ago)

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 21, 2009

I read the cited post below when it first came out, back in January. Walid Shoebat warns Americans of the coming danger. The producers of Homegrown Jihad warn us. I personally don’t believe the guys from the most recent NYC arrests acted on their own. Muslims are permitted to lie in order to “protect Islam” and jihad is a inseparable part of Islam. Mr. Shoebat gives examples from in his own life as to how jihadis speak around Westerners Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by DJM on May 21, 2009

I’m filing this under “WTF?

KATHERINE Dalton was a model with sexy curves, a perfect pout and long, blonde hair. She was in big demand.

Beneath her beauty though lay a secret which had troubled her from an early age – she felt she was a man and found herself attracted to girls rather than guys.

In December 2005 Adrian embarked on the first part of his journey to becoming a man. He had major surgery two weeks ago in Belgium and will return for more work in a year’s time. Then doctors say he will be a complete man.

Adrian now though says he is gay.

“I used to be attracted to women in my teens but I now consider myself gay.”

New York Terror Cell Plotted to Blow Up Synagogue

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 20, 2009

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested four terrorists in New York City after they bought what they thought were explosives and a Stinger missile to be used to blow up two synagogues and shoot down a plane at a nearby National Guard base.

The four men are from New York City and bear American names but told authorities they are linked with terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The FBI is still investigating their backgrounds.

Former Mayor of Kedummim Daniella Weiss Former Speaks on Netanyahu’s Meeting with Obama

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 20, 2009

Who wouldn’t want to live in a community headed by such a mayor? Daniella Weiss is one of the loveliest, most well-spoken women I’ve ever heard. Peace begins in the heart, and this woman has peace. I see a woman here who knows how to be clear, uncompromising and kind…all at the same time.

She deserves to be Prime Minister of Israel.

Ron Liddle of The Spectator and His “Take” on Hebron

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 20, 2009

THE SPECTATOR.CO.UK published an article entitled,  “You Get Your Film, and Go Home” by Ron Liddle on 4 April, 2007. I know, We’re right on top of things. Well, “Schmoozing” is an opinion site, not necessarily an up-to-the-minute news site. Neither of us gets paid enough for that.

If you want the latest, I…uhm, really don’t know who you could count on in the MSM. Sorry. They sometimes have some of the latest. As for it’s veracity, that’s another — story.

Back to Mr. Liddle’s piece, below are a few of the more notable salvos, er, paragraphs, found on page two of his article. (Note to self, be kind. Mr. Liddle did admit to feeling like an imbecile — bottom of page 1. Knowing there is a problem is, after all, half the battle.) Read the rest of this entry »

A Palestinian History Book

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 20, 2009

by Tom Mountain (a columnist for The Jewish Advocate)

A whole group of people was created overnight.

“Show me a history book of the Palestinians,” retorted Miriam Levinger to this novice student journalist over two decades ago in Kiryat Arba, in Judea, otherwise known as the southern half of the West Bank.

In 1968, Mrs. Levinger, wife of Rabbi Moshe Levinger, the leader of the Gush Emunim movement, had, with the tacit support of the Israeli government, spearheaded the return of Jews to the Hebron area. And thus came Kiryat Arba, a thriving modern Jewish township overlooking Hebron, that sacred Biblical city where Arabs had massacred the centuries-old Jewish community in 1929. The Levingers had moved there to try to set things right by reestablishing a Jewish presence in Hebron.

On October 31, 1998, in violation of his prior campaign promises, Benyamin Netanyahu signed away the vast majority of Chevron (Hebron) to Yassir Arafat.

On October 31, 1998, in violation of his prior campaign promises, Benyamin Netanyahu signed away the vast majority of Chevron (Hebron) to Yassir Arafat.

By the time I met her in 1983, Miriam Levinger, once of Brooklyn, had already been in Judea for over fifteen years. She was there to stay. Not only that, but, she assured me, her children – she eventually had eleven – would inevitably branch out to help create more settlements in Judea and Samaria (the northern half of the West Bank).

Back to the Palestinian history book, or lack there of.

Mrs. Levinger elaborated on the premise that a Palestinian history book did not exist because the very concept of a Palestinian people did not exist until the Arab nations and their proxy, the PLO, chose to invent the Palestinian national movement in 1964. It was all a propaganda ploy to attack Israel and challenge Jewish claims to the land.

Tough, no-nonsense rhetoric from an Orthodox mother who was compelled to walk through Hebron with a Uzi submachine gun for protection. Miriam Levinger was absolutely correct in her simple analysis of the situation. But she was not alone.

“Palestine is a term the Zionists invented…. Our country for centuries was part of Syria,” remarked Arab leader Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi to the British Peel Commission in 1937. Mr. Abdul-Hadi knew what he was talking about.

“Palestine 2.0 is a monster with only one purpose, to create Holocaust 2.0.” — Sultan Knish’s Latest

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 19, 2009

Dawid Walid, the Executive Director of CAIR in Michigan has challenged Walid Shoebat, claiming he never was a member of the PLO. In the following video, Mr.Shoebat provides evidence of his authenticity, and, since turning his life around, of his concern for Americans. Watch and decide for yourselves.

More importantly, watch and learn how Islam views the “kuffar”, how Muslims are allowed to lie to us, to use any means necessary to install sharia around the world. Then, ask yourselves, would the “Greatest Generation” be proud of how we’ve squandered our inheritance, the one they fought, sacrificed and died for???

Sultan Knish has more cold water to splash on our complacent, movie doped faces. Wake up or you will lose everything that means anything to you!

I’m beginning to think all I need to do every day is read Sultan Knish and then come to this site and go “What he said.”  There’s not a word that should be removed or that needs to be added. Having said that, I’m going to extract some quotes in an effort to tempt you to click the SK link and read on.

Who Needs a Palestinian State? by Sultan Knish

Some salient quotes (it’s hard to choose):

“Everyone, and by “everyone” I mean the denizens of Washington D.C.’s and Brussel’s government buildings, agrees that we need a Palestinian state.”

“To those who argue that a Palestinian State will build regional stability, the rational person must ask, how in the world has any of this contributed to regional stability?”

“Palestine was never a country or a state. It was the name given by the Roman occupation forces to a region they were administering, a region far larger than modern day Israel.”

“Israel did not come into being out of pity for the millions of Jews killed in the Holocaust. Nor did it come into being thanks to US aid or support. Both of those however are common myths.”

“17 years after Oslo, the Palestinian Arabs have built nothing but death and destruction. Worse yet they’ve taken everything that was given to them and turned it into either a weapon or a bribe.”

“It is not a natural creature, because no Palestinian state ever existed throughout history. It is an artificial state whose existence has only one purpose. The destruction of Israel.”

“And that answers our question at last. Who needs a Palestinian state? Someone who is either ignorant, foolish or needs to destroy Israel.”

“The Two State Solution is not a formula for any kind of stability or end to the violence. It’s meant to take the violence to a whole new level. It is a formula for the destruction of Israel.”

“Palestine is not a state. It was never a state. It will never be a state. It is currently ruled by two factions who have both disowned a negotiated Palestinian state in favor of the destruction of Israel. It is not a country, it is a weapon.”

“Palestine is a gun aimed at the head of Israel with one goal, its destruction. Palestine is a gun aimed at the head of every Jew in the world, legitimizing the worst and ugliest kinds of bigotry.”

“Palestine is death. It exists only as a form of living death by a population taught to see themselves as willing martyrs to the bomb belt from birth.”

“The Cult of Death in Palestine and the war against Israel is only a preview for the West of things to come. Palestine is not a place, it is hate and homicide boiled down into myth. Palestine is not only in Israel. It is in Paris and London. It is in Madrid and Detroit. It is in Sydney and Moscow.”

Gov’t Issues Strong Warning on Internet Terrorism

Posted by Glezele Vayne on May 19, 2009

I feel so vindicated by this article. — Ellie Katz

by Hana Levi Julian

(IsraelNN.com) A day after Israel National News published an article about the potential for internet terrorism on the Facebook social networking site, the Prime Minister’s Office has issued an unusual warning to Israeli citizens and residents, telling them to beware of terrorists who try to snare unwary users through the internet.

Israelis were strongly urged Tuesday in a detailed, specific warning to be alert to suspicious internet or telephone appeals by unfamiliar people, especially when accompanied by tempting promises of payment or employment abroad.

“Recent reports indicate new trends in terrorist activity on the internet beyond collecting information posted by Israelis,” said the statement released to the media. “These include direct and concrete appeals and proposals to Israeli citizens, especially those active in social networks, to become involved in terrorist activity or pass along classified information in return for payment.”
