I found this fascinating comment at Haaretz online, under their article, Jewish extremism: How real is the threat?
To: Avraham Goldberg and all readers.
The Temple Mount is not holy to the Muslims. It is merely a trick in their battle to destroy the Jewish People.
The Dome of the Rock was built by Caliph Abd al-Malik in 687 as a gift to the Jewish People. Caliph built the Dome, as a place of prayer for the Jews till the Temple would be rebuilt.
It only became a Muslim ‘holy site’ in 1939 by order of the anti-Semitic Mufti of Jerusalem.
May G-D rebuild the Temple speedily in our days!

Update: I have been searching and searching the net…can’t find anything to back this claim. — Ellie

My friend Kitman at Kitman TV makes a very interesting observation about the difference between the ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ struggle in Jihad:
Roughly speaking Aziz argues that God is only happy if you are doing it for him alone. You should fight in the path of God so that his words will be the highest. God is not only upset if his slaves flirt with other Abrahamic faiths, he also tend to get very unhappy if they think too much of the earthly riches especially the war booty, or even their heavenly counterparts. Falling short on these issues could seriously damage the ability of an otherwise successful killing spree to heap up postmortem delights
Don´t think about:
– a share of the spoils of war
– having your own sex-slaves
– improving your career opportunities
– the pleasures of paradise
– bettering the chances for your family in the after life
– other distractions from the pure causeKeeping an eye on all these things, while fighting the unbelievers makes jihad a very difficult exercise, physically as well as mentally – hence the classic distinction between the small and the grand jihad – the inner and outer struggle. It is thus important to remember, that Jihad really is a small inner struggle, in which you constantly remind yourself that you kill for God alone and in a manner he prefers. All the while treating the war booty as something irrelevant.
In short, ‘inner’ Jihad, as Muslims often attempt to tell us, is not necessarily a struggle to do good over evil (like the followers of Islam ever succeed in that struggle…) but rather ensuring the mindset that ‘outer’ Jihad (terrorism against non-Muslims) is being committed for Allah, and not for personal gain such as fame, wealth, or an elevated status.

Tali Hatuel, her 4 daughters were brutally massacred. Yasir Arafat said she was a terrorist because she lived in Gush Katif. Tali was expecting her 5th baby, a son, who was also murdered.
According to Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Authority, pregnant Jewish women and young Jewish girls who make their homes in the Gaza Strip are “terrorists,” while the “Palestinians” who murder them are “heroic martyrs.”
On Sunday, two Palestinian Arab gunmen mercilessly shot to death Tali Hatuel, 36, and her four daughters, all under the age of 12. Hatuel’s unborn son was also killed.
But rather than condemn their murder, the Arafat-controlled Voice of Palestine slammed Israel for rocketing a Gaza City Hamas radio station in response. Jerusalem Newswire

Between hyperbole and credibility.
An often-discussed topic of considerable controversy is the notion of how many Muslims support killing civilians as a tactic. Numbers range from a tiny fraction up to 50% of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.
Those who consider themselves more liberal tend to lean toward the tiny fraction estimate, while conservatives lean toward the larger numbers. Part of what drives the thinking of liberals is their tendency to see things from a more idyllic viewpoint, plus their belief that few people, if any, are evil and that at the core of everyone there is goodness to be found. This view tends to discount the impact of living in a society where virtually every aspect of daily life is under strict adherence to fundamentalism, and where jihad for Allah is considered the single holiest act of a true follower of the faith. The martyr-killer is considered a hero and the martyr’s family is showered with gifts and held in a place of honor among fellow believers.
The foregoing assessment is corroborated by a former Muslim terrorist, Walid Shoebat, who was born and raised in the Middle East, and who spent time in jail for his involvement with jihad. However, in the mid-1990s, he renounced Islam. By doing so he became an “enemy of Islam” and has been living under threat of death ever since. These days, in spite of being under a fatwa, Walid writes books, and speaks at churches, synagogues and numerous other events about Islam and jihad.
One of the reasons there has been considerable debate on this flashpoint topic is that statistics are not readily available. However, recently a report was published providing information which allows some deductive conclusions to be drawn.
A poll should be taken in the West, to see what the percentages are in comparison. — Ellie
