How to get off a speeding charge in the UK: ”

Claim you are a Muslim.

In the UK, polygamy is illegal and thus against the law.

However, a Muslim businessman in Scotland got his charge dropped when he claimed he was speeding between his two wives and thus that was the reason he was doing 64mph in a 30mph zone.

Mohammed Anwar said a ban would make it difficult to commute between his two wives and fulfill his matrimonial duties. Anwar admitted the offence, but Sheriff John C. Morris accepted his plea not to be banned and allowed him to keep his licence. Instead, he was fined £200 and given six penalty points.

Yup, the laws a joke if you are a Muslim. Anybody else would not only have been banned (30mph zones are usually built up areas) but would have been jailed for having 2 wives.

  1. Don’t get the issues mixed up.
Mr Anwar’s lawyer may have mentioned two wives but what seemed to persuade the Sheriff that disqualification was not appropriate was the impact on Mr Anwar’s business. “Exceptional hardship” is an argument open to ALL accused, wherever it exists.
Polygamy is against the law and I dare say the police have been advised to look into this matter and to report back to the Procurator Fiscal regarding same.
