Thanks to the rise of the internet and social media, people throughout the world can now gain access to than was believed possible just ago. However, the big leftist media conglomerates of old nevertheless retain great power to influence societal attitudes on a large scale…and they do not shy away from using that power to sway public opinion their way. Particularly in “movement media“, we see an endless stream ofradical propaganda that has become valuable as a political mechanism of organizing for the Shadow Party. But these and their compatriots in the so-called “mainstream media” have evolved even further in their role as a propaganda machine in recent years. They have become apologists not only for a secular ideology, but now also for a wholly political religion – Islam. These Islamapologists have many clear lines that they invariably refuse to cross in their reporting on this particular religion; lines that are so unmistakable that we can identify them specifically. They are the “Ten Commandments of Leftist Reporting on Islam.”
And we’re starting with… censorship.
I. Thou Shalt Not Take the Name of Muhammad in Vain
II. Thou Shalt Compare Radical Islam to Conservatism
In presenting his book American Taliban for public consumption, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas Zuniga claimed that conservative concerns about leftist tolerance for Islamic terrorism are an “extra level of stupid” because “these Islamic fundamentalists subscribe to the very same ideology and values that drive American modern conservatives.” The meme that conservatism is equivalent to Islamic fundamentalism got its first big jump-start in the leftist media and it continues today. On any given day and in all areas of both movement and ‘mainstream” media, one can find radical Islam termed not as “radical Islam” but rather the “conservative” form of Islam. The left is hereby co-opting the term “conservative”, using it to describe both those who murder in the name of Allah and mainstream leaders in America who happen to be politically conservative.
Via the Right Scoop and Mark Tapscott of the Examiner. There’s a wrinkle here that you don’t usually find with most clips of Democrats embarrassing themselves in public — namely, a voiceover. I think Tapscott’s transcript of what Moran says is accurate (skip ahead to 3:00 for the key part) but I honestly can’t tell for sure. I’ll leave it to you guys to crank up the volume on your PCs and crowdsource it for accuracy in the comments:
“It [the Republican successes in the 2010 elections] happened for the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States. It happened because the Southern states, the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery.
“In this case, I believe, a lot of people in the United States don’t want to be governed by an African-American, particularly one who is liberal, who wants to spend money and who wants to reach out to include everyone in our society….”
At the Standard, John McCormack politely notes that it’s difficult to square this reasoning with The One’s landslide win just two years before. True enough, but I’m less focused on that than on the media outlet he’s speaking to. Am I the only one who remembers Alhurra? It was founded in 2004 by — ta da — the U.S. government as a pro-American alternative to Al Jazeera in the Middle East. (The network acknowledges its U.S. financial backing on its “About” page.) It’s an Arab version of “Voice of America,” in other words, and needless to say, it hasn’t caught on. The pathetic punchline here is that, even on a network devoted to spreading American propaganda, this guy can’t resist tearing his fellow citizens down. Send the tape to Al Jazeera, Jim; maybe they’ll hire you as a full-time contributor after you retire.
The sole example that everyone’s favorite hard-Left Mother offers for this wild claim is an attack on a black man, but “journalist” Jen Phillips cancels out that example by noting that the idiot yahoos who confronted him took him to be a Muslim, which is why they were confronting him. So in other words, this wasn’t a “racist” incident at all, or an example of “Islamophobia” leading to an increase in hate crimes against other groups.
Why make this claim at all? Perhaps because actual incidents like the one described, of jerks acting like jerks toward Muslims, are so rare. Hate crimes against Muslims are so rare (see here, here and here) that Hamas-linked CAIR has to trump them up to maintain the media myth of Muslims as victims.
What is time thinking. Unless they have totally lost there minds if just might be the dhimitude talking. It is a sad day. Didn’t they used to stand for the forces of good instead of evil?
TIME Magazine is in worse shape than we thought. The former news magazine is no longer just controversial and biased, it’s ridiculous.
TIME magazine lists the Gaza “Freedom Flotilla” terrorist stunt as one of the all-time top clashes at sea.
Really?… Really, TIME? Read the rest of this entry »
The EDL, or English Defense League, which vigorously opposes the advance of Islam into the cultural nexus of Western democracies, finds itself on the receiving end of the customary hysteria that greets every such attempt to defend a way of life we have too long taken for granted. Originating in the city of Luton in England, where a substantial, radicalized Muslim population has been linked to various terror plots and fomented demonstrationsagainst British troopsreturning from Iraq, the EDL has taken its premonitory message to Europe andNorth America. A rally was held on January 11, 2011 in Toronto, hosted by the Jewish Defense League (JDL). Predictably, it was met by “pacifist” protesters, associated with several anti-Zionist and ostensibly anti-racist groups, chanting such peaceable slogans as “EDL—go to Hell” and “Smash, Smash, Smash EDL”—and, yes, initiating pockets of violence requiring police intervention. So it goes.
Glenn Jasper, Ruder Finn Israel, recently suggested that Israel should have all its spokesmen deliver the same message. After all, that’s what the Palestinians do. That might be a good idea except that Israel is a nation of presidents and each president will deliver his or her own message. They can’t be disciplined.
Alex Fishman suggested that Israel should consider the PR battle as more important than the military battle and organize accordingly.
“Hence, the manager of this war on our side should not be the army via the IDF spokesman, but rather, someone on the highest national level, with the best professionals, who would have the knowledge and ability to write the “scripts” for the war and enforce them on all our executive arms, including the army.”
Good as these suggestions are, they don’t go to the heart of the matter.
To start with there is a coalition of forces including antisemites, leftists and Islamists, who are dedicated to Israel’s destruction. They couldn’t care less about truth and justice, so a better PR campaign would be irrelevant. Then there is the mainstream media that presents news to support their agenda rather than the truth. The fact that they suppressed the flotilla videos, which made Israel’s case better than a thousand words could have, is testimony to this fact. They have constructed a narrative in support of their agenda and any facts that are not in keeping with it, are ignored.
But there is something more going on that is little noticed and much determinative. Governments lead by the US also construct a narrative depending on their agenda and they don’t let truth and justice get in the way.
Long before the Oslo accords, the US began to suppress negative information on Arafat and the PLO as she wished to build a peace process around them. After the signing of the Oslo Accords, the US made no issue of the violation of the accords by Arafat. She was not about to let such violations scuttle the peace process. In effect Arafat could do whatever he wanted, and this included killing American diplomats, so long as he gave lip service to the peace process. Caroline Glick called the “peace process” an “appeasement process” the goal of which was, not peace, but appeasement.
Iran and Syria also learned this lesson. They could keep killing Americans in Iraq as long as they denied their complicity. The US rarely called them on this because if she did, she would have to do something about it.
Sometimes, after elaborating and exploring realities and facts to promote an opinion and advocate for what one feels is important, truthful, just – one gets frustrated. The message doesn’t go through and after 100 days of hail storm, the public shows 60%+ support for the bringer of said hail. One just feels truth doesn’t matter anymore. Passion is replaced with indifference, and speech dies naturally.
Many of those who disagree with the message the MSM choir is broadcasting have befallen to the “what’s the use” clause. Those who have not – are constantly under a certain pressure, the pressure is well elaborated in the following excellent video:
Israeli watchdog group NGO Monitor has noted that one of the foreign media’s favorite Gaza-based interviewees, Norwegian physician Mads Gilbert, is a man with an extremist political past.
Gilbert has been quoted widely, including in a Times of London article where he told friends by SMS, “We are wading in death, blood and amputees. Many children. A pregnant woman. I have never experienced anything so terrible.”
Gilbert also used a BBC interview from Gaza’s Shifa Hospital to cite casualty statistics that he said proved the IDF was deliberately targeting civilians.
According to NGO Monitor, however, Gilbert’s past is indicative of “ideological extremism,” such as when he expressed support for the September 11 attacks on the United States in a 2001 interview in Norway’s Dagbladet newspaper.
In the interview, he argued that “the oppressed also have a moral right to attack the USA with any weapon they can come up with,” adding specifically that he supported the terror attack “within the context which I have mentioned.”
Gilbert was also a candidate for local government in 2007 for the Norwegian Red Party, an outgrowth of the radical Norwegian Workers’ Communist Party.
An Israeli government official also told the Post that “there is no way [Gilbert] could have personal access to the kind of statistics he cited. He got them from the Gaza Health Ministry, which is controlled by Hamas. That raises the question: To what extent is he a willing or unwilling mouthpiece for Hamas?”
It seems the MSM is on the Jihadist side. Even the lefties I know support Israel. I think what Israel is doing is right and long over due. I guess some people are so brainwashed that they blame Israel for everything. I have not run into anyone that clueless yet. I hope not to but if you do have are some great talking points posted here. It seems like common sense to me to support Israel, but I guess some people need convincing. 2+2 equals 4 and killing Jihadis is good. Want any more truths?
Good news here. The death threats are drastically slowing down and the traffic is going up. I did not know that some many people wanted to read what I had to say. Thanks.
Here is savage talking about how double speak is losing us the war against the Jihadis
I am more of a Mark Levin fan. He gives his show without commercials for free online. But I think Savage does a great service to our country when he talks about the Jihadis trying to destroy America at home and abroad.
