Dhimmitude in Eretz Israel

“Yet perhaps most galling of all to effendi (Arab landlords) leadership was the Jew who would settle the land. This was not the dhimmi Jew — cowering to survive, as in Arab lands — but a person who commanded equal treatment. The outrage which that insistence created, among those weaned on the tradition of Muslim supremacy, would infect the multi-ethnic Arabic-speaking Muslim workers of Palestine as well: for centuries Jews had been objects to oppress and despise.” (From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters, pg 172)
Fayyad Promises Rights for Jews in PA State
by Maayana Miskin
(IsraelNN.com) During an appearance Saturday in Aspen, Colorado, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad promised that Jews who choose to live in a future Palestinian Authority-led Arab state in Judea and Samaria will be granted equal rights. His statements stood in contrast to the PA’s current policies regarding Jewish residents of the region.
Fayyad’s statements were made as part of a question and answer session during the Aspen Ideas Festival. The event was covered by the Aspen Daily News.
“The kind of state that we want to have, that we aspire to have, is one that would definitely espouse high values of tolerance, co-existence, mutual respect and deference to all cultures, religions,” Fayyad said in response to a question about the possibility for a Jewish minority to remain among residents of a PA Arab state.
Jews who remain in Judea and Samaria if Israel withdraws “will enjoy these rights and certainly will not enjoy any less rights that Israeli Arabs enjoy now in the state of Israel,” he added.
The promise of equal rights came in response to a question from former CIA Director James Woolsey, who asked if Israeli Jews who chose to live in Judea and Samaria would be given the rights granted to Arab citizens of Israel. Among those rights are the right to vote, freedom of worship, free speech, “and most importantly, be able to go to sleep at night without worrying someone is going to kick down the door and kill them,” according to Woolsey.
Fayyad’s statements in favor of co-existence and equality sharply contradict current PA policy regarding Jews in Judea and Samaria. The PA considers all Jewish communities in the area to be illegal, and has demanded that all be dismantled and their residents removed from the region.
Fatah Forces Jews out of Jerusalem Home; Arabs Destroy It
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu
(IsraelNN.com) Arabs destroyed a Jewish home in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem last week after forcing a Jewish contractor to leave. Both the Arabs and Jews claim that police were involved, but a police spokesman said he knows of no activity in the area.
The Bethlehem-based Maan news agency, which is closely affiliated with the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority, reported Wednesday morning that senior Fatah leaders prevented Jews from entering the home. The Fatah officials, in the presence of police, reportedly convinced the Jews to leave the property, allegedly owned by an Arab since the 1940s.
Aryeh King, whose Israel Land Fund is heavily involved in the Jewish presence in eastern Jerusalem, said that the incident actually took place two weeks ago and that the police evicted the Jews.

Myopic American Jewish Culture
Posted by elyakatz on February 22, 2009
BS”D
I am so sorry to report, American Jewish culture is in trouble, and some of it is being imported to Israel. Not much, thanks be, since it is mostly the faithful among us that are willing to risk it all to be, well…faithful and return home.
Around 80% of Jews in America (the non-orthodox component) consider their participation in Judaism to consist of proudly, even defiantly, eating lox & bagels on Sundays while their neighbors attend church, and watching Fiddler on the Roof at least once a year, while referring to it, quoting it and learning the dances depicted, or at least dutifully sending their kids to classes to learn those dances. And maybe even do a Fiddler on the Roof play, if they’re really ambitious.
In Fiddler on the Roof, Norman Jewison brought a touch of old Eastern Europe Jewish culture to us. Sholom Aleichem did so in his books, on which this movie is based. Not having actually lived through those times myself, I am unsure of the accuracy of this charming semi-tragic portrayal, but hey that’s showbiz. Really though, I enjoy Fiddler on the Roof and lox & bagels as much as the next Jew. Charming and delicious respectively. But, I don’t consider participation in these activities as equal to a Shabbos afternoon listening to a dvar Torah by a Talmid chocham.
And therein lies the problem. Most of American Jewry, while very proud of their heritage, know little to nothing about what it really means. They only know the stereotypes imposed on them by their enemies, and what popular culture tells them about Yiddishkeit. This then morphs into a Jewish community with little or no truly Jewish values, which thinks…that the values they do hold are indeed Jewish. No. They are non-Jewish values held by Jews. Misguided, unrealistic, painfully ignorant Jews. Then, these tragically disenfranchised Jews try and impose those non-Jewish values on the rest of us who’ve been taking our heritage very seriously all along.
More to the point, semi-Yiddishkeit movies and really yummy nosh are not the sum and substance of the Jewish worldview, nor will they assure our survival as a people.
I was inspired to kvetch about this sad state of affairs after some tag surfing. I ran across a post by Deb Reich at DesertPeace. In her post, where she is clearly longing for the messianic era, she has embedded the video below. Read the rest of this entry »

“Partner for Peace” threatens violence
Posted by avideditor on May 18, 2008
I found this at Israel Matzav and I don’t think I can say this better myself. So enjoy.
‘Partner for peace’ threatens to resign
‘Moderate’ ‘Palestinian’ PresidentMahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen hasthreatened to resignonce again if a deal is not reached with Israel to give him astatereichlet in the next six months.
Speaking to former Meretz chairman Yossi Beilin on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Sharm e-Sheikh, the PA president said that the next six months were the most crucial and that if no agreement is reached between the Israelis and the Palestinians within that time, there will be no reason for him to continue in his role.
“Israel will not have a better partner than the group leading the PLO today, which believes the Palestinian interest is a historic reconciliation with Israel and a Palestinian state alongside it,” said Abbas, adding that if there is no agreement, “Israel will find itself with no partner at all.”
Abbas went on to say that a deadlock in peace negotiations would likely bring the Middle East back to “the tragedy of 2000 which followed the failure at Camp David,” Army Radio reported.
In other words, Israel should give the ‘Palestinians’ whatever they want or face another intifada. And of course, Shimon Peres’ old poodleimmediately passed on the message.
Abu Mazen’s constant threats to resign remind me of David Frye’s imitation of the late Hubert Humphrey included in this tape from my youth. Enjoy!

‘Peaceful’ Hamas Friday sermon and Fatah comments
Posted by avideditor on April 13, 2008
Israel should destroy Hamas ASAP. Fatah should also not be trusted. They have the same goals as Hamas. You can see a spokes man revealing them here. Or read the transcript
Following are excerpts from an interview with Abbas Zaki, Palestinian Authority representative in Lebanon, which aired on NBN TV on April 9, 2008:
Abbas Zaki: We believe wholeheartedly that the Right of Return is guaranteed by our will, by our weapons, and by our faith.
Interviewer: Do you still believe in weapons, not just in negotiations?
Abbas Zaki: The use of weapons alone will not bring results, and the use of politics without weapons will not bring results. We act on the basis of our extensive experience. We analyze our situation carefully. We know what climate leads to victory and what climate leads to suicide. We talk politics, but our principles are clear. It was our pioneering leader, Yasser Arafat, who persevered with this revolution, when empires collapsed. Our armed struggle has been going on for 43 years, and the political struggle, on all levels, has been going on for 50 years. We harvest U.N. resolutions, and we shame the world so that it doesn’t gang up on us, because the world is led by people who have given their brains a vacation – the American administration and the neocons.
[...]
Young Palestinian: As I recall, the invasion of 1982 and the destruction of South Lebanon was not just in response to missile attacks, but in response to operations as well. Israel does not use only the missiles as a pretext. It uses any activity of the resistance as a pretext.
Abbas Zaki: The important thing is that in any operation, Israel will pay a price. We don’t want cases in which you don’t kill even a chicken, but Israel kills 20 of you. I salute any operation that makes Israel pay a heavy price.
[...]
The P.L.O. is the sole legitimate representative [of the Palestinian people], and it has not changed its platform even one iota. In light of the weakness of the Arab nation and the lack of values, and in light of the American control over the world, the P.L.O. proceeds through phases, without changing its strategy. Let me tell you, when the ideology of Israel collapses, and we take, at least, Jerusalem, the Israeli ideology will collapse in its entirety, and we will begin to progress with our own ideology, Allah willing, and drive them out of all of Palestine.

Shin Bet Thwarts Mass Poisoning Of Israeli Restaurant Patrons
Posted by avideditor on April 10, 2008
G-d bless the Shin Bet. Events like these are reasons why Jews should not employ arabs. Do not pay money and give access to people that want to kill you.
Shin Bet Thwarts Mass Poisoning Of Israeli Restaurant Patrons: “
Shin Bet Thwarts Mass Poisoning Of Israeli Restaurant Patrons: ‘
The men, Eihab Abu Rial and Anas Salum, both 21-year-old residents of the West Bank city of Nablus, had planned to lace dishes served at the establishment with a powerful toxin without odor or taste, in the hopes of killing as many patrons as possible.
The two did not have working permits and were residing in Israel illegally. While in Nablus, they had been recruited to the al-Aqsa Martyr’s Bridges, the military wing of Fatah, under the guidance and funding of Hizbullah.
These are desperate times with jihadists pulling out all of the stops to kill Israelis and create terror and chaos. Hopefully, these two will give up much needed info on al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades leadership.
I’m afraid, there will come a day when there will flat out be too many of these types of attacks for the Israelis to uncover them all. As always, an example needs to be made of these plotters and the chain of command that brought them to this mission needs to be identified, located, confirmed and eradicated.
Shin Bet thwarts mass restaurant poisoning
The thwarting of an alarming terror plot was cleared for publication on Thursday, almost three weeks after a joint Shin Bet and police operation led to the arrest of two Palestinian employees of the ‘Grill Express’ restaurant in Ramat Gan.
The men were arrested by police investigators following information obtained by the Shin Bet, several
short days before they planned to carry out the attack.Toxin was to come from West Bank
In their questioning the men told interrogators they were to receive the poison from two operatives in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus – Husseini Salag and Hani Quabi – who are still wanted by security forces. The white substance is virtually undetectable and affects its victims approximately four hours after being ingested.
Salag, they said, also sought to use them to bring a suicide bomber across the border.
Defense officials say they are concerned Quabi continues to seek the means to carry out an attack in Israel using illegal Palestinian residents.A similar incident occurred five and a half years ago in Jerusalem. At the time, three Arab residents of east Jerusalem were arrested before their plan to poison Israeli patrons at the Rimon Café in central Jerusalem could be realized. The three had also planned to carry out a suicide bombing during a right-wing demonstration. The cell had been found to operating under Hamas.
Some four years ago a Fatah cell was arrested in Qalqiliya, the group had been planning to detonate an explosive device encased in HIV-infected blood in a crowded Tel Aviv area.
