NGO Monitor Debunks Israel ‘War Crimes’

Posted by Glezele Vayne on August 7, 2009

by Hillel Fendel

(IsraelNN.com) Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor has debunked, at length, recent accusations by Human Rights Watch (HRW) that Israel committed “war crimes” during Operation Cast Lead.

The HRW, in its official report and accompanying press releases and interviews, accuses the IDF of using drones to launch precise weapons during the Gaza operation, leading to wrongful civilian deaths. The entire case is based on allegations from only six ambiguous incidents in which 29 civilians are said to have been killed, NGO Monitor states.

HRW’s case against Israel, in which Israel is repeatedly accused of war crimes, is entirely speculative, according to NGO Monitor, “but the conclusions are stated with absolute assurance, as if the evidence was totally clear.”  Robert Hewson, editor of the prestigious Jane’s Air-Launched Weapons, is quoted as stating, “Human Rights Watch makes a lot of claims and assumptions about weapons and drones, all of which is still fairly speculative, because we have so little evidence.”

NGO Monitor’s objective, its website states, is “to end the practice used by certain self-declared ‘humanitarian NGOs [non-governmental organizations]‘ of exploiting the label ‘universal human rights values’ to promote politically and ideologically motivated anti-Israel agendas.”

Inconclusive Nature of Arab Testimony
For instance, the report accuses of war crimes the Israelis who operated the drones that were allegedly involved in the attacks. Much of the evidence against them, however, is based on Arab eyewitnesses who claim to have not seen Israelis or Hamas targets in the area at the times of the attacks. HRW takes these claims at face value, despite the inconclusive nature of this testimony, and despite details provided by the Israeli government’s report on the Gaza combat that refute this speculation.

These eyewitnesses are “not likely to have known whether there were legitimate military targets in the area,” NGO Monitor states. “These [targets] could have included command and control centers, weapons’ storage sites, and other Hamas facilities… HRW’s reliance on this evidence reflects two highly speculative assumptions: (1) that the presence or absence of visible Israeli forces in an area is a central criteria; (2) that there were no legitimate targets (Hamas fighters, weapons, communications assets, etc.) in the area, visible or not visible… HRW propagates the misleading concept that there were no legitimate targets unless locals, UN staff, journalists or human rights activists (unnamed) claim to have observed ‘active” local fighters or fighting.”

Help Dear Leader, Snitch on Your Unfaithful Neighbors!

Good day Comrades! It has been brought to my attention that some of you out there are faced with a problem. It seems as though there are some fringe elements out there that are spreading false and malicious rumors about Dear Leader Obama. Such radical leaders as Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Congressional Republicans, and large groups of protesters all across the country are speaking vicious and vile lies about Dear Leader’s plans to social….I mean, “nationalize” the health care industry. Why, just look at what The People’s Speaker Nancy Pelosi has uncovered about these hooligans:

Pelosi said that while Democrats are putting forth proposals to reform health care, “those not interested in health insurance reform are disrupting public meetings and not allowing concerned constituents to ask questions and express their views. Many of these opponents who are shutting down civil discussion are organized by out-of-district, extremist political groups, and industry-supported lobbying firms.”

She’s exactly right. Why just look at some of these blatant examples of right-wing “astroturfing” in an attempt to shut down rational discourse and demonize their opponents:

Hizb ut-Tahrir in America

Posted by Glezele Vayne on August 5, 2009

Actively seeking a Caliphate in the USA

On July 19, 2009, Hizb ut-Tahrir (“Party of Liberation”; HT) held a recruitment conference at the Hilton Oak Lawn hotel just outside Chicago, Illinois The event was entitled the Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam and reportedly garnered 300 attendees.

While 300 attendees may not make a movement, the meeting is significant and its occurrence should sound warning bells in the Chicago Muslim community and for all Americans. Hizb ut-Tahrir is a harbinger of much deeper efforts to convert Muslim children to an ideology that is rooted in a belief that is contrary to the liberties and ideals that Americans hold dear.

While Hizb ut-Tahrir may be new to most Americans, its roots in the United States date back over a decade to Southern California and Chicago. The organization was first founded in 1953 by a Palestinian qadi or shari’a judge, and today is a global Islamist network with hundreds of thousands of adherents from England to Indonesia. It actively seeks to create a Caliphate based in shari’a law.

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s platform lies at the center of the contest of ideas and what it means to be a Muslim.

Groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir use the entire faith community, or ummah, of Muslims for a specific global political agenda to give susceptible youth an identity that takes precedence over what it is to be American, and our inherent allegiance to the Constitution and its legal system. Western governments created by the people and for the people are in direct conflict with an ideology that proclaims law comes directly from the hand of God and has only one form – their theocratic form.

Open Your Eyes

Posted by Glezele Vayne on August 3, 2009

BS”D

The problem with evil is that often it is only shocking and obvious in hindsight. As a nation slides towards evil, and then begins to sink, ever so slowly, into evil it all looks so banal. So unremarkable. So…everyday. It is not for nothing that the comparisons between the proverbial “frog in the pot of water” is cited when describing the direction America is taking. We are all of us, asleep. Anesthetized. We don’t want to move out of our comfort zones.

Please, take stock of what is swirling around you. If it’s not on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC…it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.  What is happening? For that, it is important to listen to the following:

Audio: Are the Gates Closing for American Jews?

Audio: Wake up Call to America! The Third Jihad is Here!

Hizb ut-Tahrir America: Let’s Not Exaggerate; Let’s Be Accurate by Madeleine Gruen

Please. Please. Think about all this. I know it’s not pleasant. I know you’d rather just live your lives peacefully. But if you refuse to consider what is going on, how will you be prepared? How will you prepare your children?

Cash for Clunkers: Why the Government is Incapable of Competing with the Free Market

Posted by ghostofsparta on August 2, 2009

Crossposted at http://paranoidpyro8503.blogspot.com/2009/08/cash-for-clunkers-why-government-is.html

When I first heard about the “Cash for Clunkers” program the goverment was going to institute, I was skeptical. Shocker, I know. I’m a free marketer through-and-through, and one of those people that relizes that the only money the government can spend is our money. So the government says that they will give you up to $4500 for a new car, given the right circumstances at the time of trade-in of course. But of course conditions apply: only certain cars meet the criteria, your new car must have better MPGs than your old one, etc. And this program, which was set to run through November was allocated $1 billion dollars. As of this weekend, the program is out of money…and these people want to be in charge of our healthcare (shudder). Read the rest of this entry »
