(IsraelNN.com) In a formal request filed on Monday, Knesset Member Michael Ben-Ari (National Union), his parliamentary aide and right-wing activist Baruch Marzel asked to tour the Bedouin town of Rahat in an effort to document unrestrained illegal construction in the Negev. Their intention is to expose what they say is a double standard of strict law enforcement against unauthorized construction by Jews.
The right-wing claim that the State ignores illegal Arab construction projects while pouncing on every unauthorized trailer placed on a hill in Judea and Samaria is about to be field tested. Recent days have seen IDF soldiers and police actively demolishing several such outposts in Judea and Samaria. In response, MK Ben-Ari, Marzel and parliamentary aide Itamar Ben-Gvir have requested authorization from the police to carry out a tour of Rahat in search of unauthorized construction projects.
In their request, sent to the local police department, the three activists wrote that the public is currently interested in the issue of illegal construction and unauthorized outposts. Therefore, they explained, they request the opportunity to investigate unauthorized outposts in the Negev and illegal construction in Rahat. The date suggested for the tour, which would include filmed documentation of their findings, is three weeks from Tuesday.
Another good news alert (gotta get it in while it lasts) is the fact that the anti-Syrian parties have won more seats in Lebanon’s parlaiment than Hezbollah. More here and, here.

(IsraelNN.com) Anti-Islam parties scored big victories in European Union parliamentary voting that concluded Sunday. A record low voter turnout of only 43 percent helped the right wing parties enter the EU Parliament (EUP), while the conservative European People’s party retained its plurality, by a comfortable margin.
In the Netherlands, Geert Wilders’ Freedom party won 17 percent of the country’s votes, giving it four out of the country’s 25 seats in the 736-seat EUP. Its support placed it less than three percent behind the ruling Christian Democratic Alliance’s showing.
Wilder has set off violent protests in the Muslim world because of his 15-minute film called Fitna, which links violence with the Koran. He also is working with Israeli Knesset Member Aryeh Eldad (National Union) to expose violence in Islam.

Report: Hamas Using Ambulances to Terrorize Civilians

(IsraelNN.com) Hamas has stolen dozens of donated ambulances and is using them in its campaign of intimidation against Gaza civilians, Palestinian Authority officials have reported. The report, published in the PA paper Al-Hayyat al-Jadida, was translated by Palestinian Media Watch.
The ambulances in question were donated earlier this year, during Operation Cast Lead. Hamas took 46 ambulances, confiscated the expensive medical equipment inside, and converted the vehicles to police vans.
The vans were then used during arrest campaigns targeting civilian political dissenters, the PA charged.
PA official Omar Nasr accused Hamas of taking other medical supplies as well. Hamas has stolen thousands of tons of donated equipment and either used it for its private army or sold it to the public, he charged.
Hamas has cracked down recently on Gaza residents loyal to the Fatah-led PA based in Judea and Samaria, as the PA fights Hamas in territories under its control. Hundreds of Fatah loyalists have reportedly been detained. The detainees have been held in public buildings in Gaza, including schools, as the main Hamas prison was damaged in an IDF strike earlier in the year.

(IsraelNN.com) The liberal-leaning Washington Post, often noted as reflecting U.S. policy, editorialized Sunday that U.S. President Barack Obama’s demand that Israel stop all building for Jews in Judea and Samaria may leave him without Israel as an ally and without Arab support. The daily traditionally has taken a harsh view of Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria.
“The problem is that no Israeli government — not Mr. Netanyahu’s, not even one led by the current opposition — is likely to agree to a total construction ban,” The Washington newspaper stated in its editorial. “By insisting on one, the administration risks bogging it down in a major dispute with its ally, while giving Arab governments and Palestinians a ready excuse not to make their own concessions.”
The paper also declared that Palestinian Authority negotiators have already conceded that large Jewish population centers in the PA will become part of Israel if and when a new PA state is created. No PA leader has made this statement in public, and President Obama’s declaration that “settlements are illegitimate” has strengthened confidence in the Arab world that all of the territorial demands in the 2002 Saudi Arabia Peace Plan will be met.
The Washington Post pointed out that former President Bill Clinton as well George W. Bush recognized the “facts on the ground” of a permanent Jewish presence in such cities as Maaleh Adumim. However, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton specifically said earlier this week that the Obama government does not recognize the personal promise by Bush on Israeli retention of the city as well as other areas.
(Cue dramatic Music) And so, being the lemming as most bloggers are (after all, current events and pictures are a sure way to get traffic from search engines like Google), I present to you the infamous Obama Unemployment Graph. Now, as most people can see from looking at the above chart, the Obama “stimulus” (note the sarcastic quotes I put there) has not done anything at all to stop unemployment and the loss of jobs. In fact that chart points out that even with the “stimulus” the unemployment rate is worse than what even Obama’s staff predicted it would be without spending trillions of dollars we don’t have. Now of course, these numbers can’t mean anything bad for President Obama. Even when Bush had low unemployment and a great economy, things were really bad we just didn’t know it. We obviously needed our betters in the media to point out to us that Bush’s sub 6% unemployment and 14,000+ Dow means that we were really in a recession and didn’t know it. Now with Obama….why with Obama 9%+ unemployment and a Dow hovering around 8,000 means the economy is the best it’s ever been. Why, even losing hundreds of thousands of jobs is a good sign! The Gray Lady tortured (waterboarded?) common sense in its May 24th editorial entitled “The Test Ban Treaty”. The Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty itself is a misbegotten endeavor born of exuberant good will following the end of the Cold War. As do most products of derelict international institutions, the Test Ban Treaty is attracting the adulation of self-styled bon vivants in print media. Only the Times, however, could advance an argument so riddled with platitudes and self-contradictions with a straight face.

(IsraelNN.com) Ex-Defense and Foreign Minister Professor Moshe Arens says, “We must strengthen the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria even beyond their natural growth rates.”
The soft-spoken former Technion professor of aeronautical engineering is not happy with U.S. President Barack Obama’s new aggressive approach to Israel. “We’re not used to receiving orders from others,” he told Arutz-7′s Hebrew newsmagazine on Thursday. “We are an independent country. We hear what the president says, but we are not at Mt. Sinai where we respond, ‘We will do whatever you say.’”
Arens served for six terms as a Knesset Member, was Minister of Defense in four different governments, and was Minister of Foreign Affairs in one. He immigrated to Israel in 1948 from the United States.

(IsraelNN.com) The U.S. State Department Tuesday refused to state whether the Obama administration will honor a promise by the previous government that Israel will retain sovereignty over large Jewish areas in Judea and Samaria, in the event that a new Palestinian Authority state is created.
Then-President George W. Bush wrote former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in 2004, “In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli populations centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949, and all previous efforts to negotiate a two-state solution have reached the same conclusion.”
Sylvie Lucas, President of the Economic and Social Council, charged that the refusal of the United States to state whether it is backing the commitment is problematic because “we are continually calling, for example, on the Palestinians – all factions of the Palestinians – to abide by the commitments that previous Palestinian governments have made. And yet you stand at that podium unwilling to declare whether or not the United States feels obligated to abide by the commitment that a previous United States government made.”
The question of whether U.S. President Barack Obama will honor the letter was raised at the State Department’s daily press briefing last week. Spokesman Ian Kelly replied, “That’s an excellent question…and I’ll get you the information on that.”
Spokesman Robert Wood dodged the issue Monday but was cornered on Tuesday by Lucas, who verbally sparred with him. [Questions and answers on the letter are located at 29 minutes after start of video.]
Wood repeatedly answered Lucas, “What I tried to say yesterday, and I’ll try and say it again today, is that we are working with the two parties to implement their Roadmap obligations….We’ve been extremely clear about that.”
Pressed by Lucas, who asked, “So it means you are not bound by this letter?” Wood replied, “What I said, Sylvie, was we are working with the two sides to help them implement their Roadmap obligations.”
Lucas tried again: “Why don’t you want to say if you are bound or not? I don’t understand.”
Wood: “I’m saying what I’m saying.”
Lucas: Well, you are not answering.” As others at the session laughed out loud, she asked, “I don’t understand why you don’t want to say it.”
(IsraelNN.com)Barely two months after a rabbi, his wife and four other Jews were brutually (sic) murdered in a Chabad House in Mumbai, India, the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn has been targeted in a series of jihadist videos posted on the internet.
The English-language videos and posts singled out Orthodox Jews, and especially the Chabad-Lubavitch community in the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, for attack.
