Honest Reporting’s rendition of some select parts of the exchange between Rafa and Ayalon:
NR: The thing is, do you agree that there will be in the future one Palestinian state [..] that all the Palestinians want is to be treated as anyone else in the world….[sic]…when you are making life equal for the people [..] when [their] dream to see Jerusalem… and in the West Bank, and Ramallah and in Jenin [..] you are not suffering at the end of the day and you want people to believe…
DA: Please, don’t get excited, of course I’m not suffering because I’m not killing anybody.
NR: And you want to decide, you want people to believe, that you as previous ambassador to the UN, sorry to say fascist, fascist [..] party… where this party… I am the indigenous people, I have been here as my grandfather was here before the State of Israel [..]
Crowd: What’s the question, what’s the question?
NR: …the whole thing you are talking about is bullshit, you don’t want to open your eyes and you keep [being] blind, not to see what’s the problem, and it is occupation.
DA: Now you know why you don’t have a state.
NR: And the only guarantee to live here is ending the occupation. Do you not recognize that there is an occupation? Yes or no? YES OR NO? Do you agree that there is an occupation? Do recognize the occupation? Yes or no? Give me an answer and then you can go.
[**]
DA: I would like first the eradication of terror, first of all, and secondly, your recognition that I have the right to be here, that this my country, I’m not here by anybody’s favor. This is my country, this is my land.
NR: It’s Palestinian land.
DA: No its not Palestinian land, this is Jewish land, this is what you have to accept, and if you don’t accept it, then we don’t even have anything to talk about.

Below is a small excerpt of the video entitled “Sugihara”. The entire movie is available at many public libraries for free, and is well worth the time.
In addition to thousands of Jewish refugees from Lithuania and other Nazi occupied nations, Mir Yeshiva owes it’s continued existence to Chiune Sugihara. They honored Sugihara’s widow, in a moving segment of the video, towards the end.
Japan refused to participate in Hitler’s war against the Jews, in spite of repeated efforts to pressure on the part of the Nazi’s that the Japanese adopt antisemitic views. They simply would not.

Spring has delivered the message of hope generation after generation, after seeming death comes rebirth. Each year spring brings into our lives the sheer delight of rebirth and rediscovery. Both young and old look at the world through childlike eyes hoping not to miss the blessings in this turn of the wheel.

March 21, 2009: London, Britain. Labour Party MP Shahid Malik has predicted the total Islamification of Britain and a Muslim prime minister, “Allah willing”, within the next thirty years.
The remarks were made at the October 2008 “Global Peace and Unity” conference held at the Excel London centre, but were deliberately withheld from the video coverage released of that event.
The video speech in which Mr Malik made his remarks has now been released on the internet — nearly five months after the event.
The suppression of the video was clearly designed to try and limit the damage to the ruling Tory and Labour elite, whose immigration policies have led to the situation where a Muslim cabinet minister can confidently predict the total Islamification of this nation.
In his speech, Mr Malik said that he was “proud of the achievements of the Muslims of this country since 1997.”
Referring to Muslim members of the British parliament, himself included, Mr Malik went on to say that: “In 1997 we got our first Muslim MP. In 2001 we had two Muslim MPs. In 2005 we had four Muslim MPs. In ša Allah, in 2009 (or) 2010 we’ll have eight or ten Muslim MPs. In 2014 we’ll have 16 Muslim MPs. At this rate the whole parliament will be Muslim.”
Mr Malik then realised that he had let the cat out of the bag by being too honest, and in an embarrassed tone, he backtracked slightly, saying that was not his intention “in case any members of the press are present.”
The crowd showed no signs of reacting to his remark, and, filled with confidence, he then resumed an explanation of how Britain is to be totally Islamified.
“I am confident, as Britain’s first Muslim minister, that, in ša Allah, in the next thirty years or so, we’ll see a prime minister who happens to share my faith,” Mr Malik said, in reference to the growing Third World population and immigration figures.
The people of Britain cannot say that they have not been warned.
March 21, 2009: Nottingham, Britain. The postmaster who banned customers who can’t speak English from his branch today faced calls for him to be sacked from angry local Muslims.
Sri Lankan-born Deva Kumarasiri introduced the ban this week because he believes all immigrants in Britain should learn the language and take pride in the new homeland.
Mr Kumarasiri, who runs Sneinton Boulevard Post Office in inner-city Nottingham, moved here 18 years ago and says everyone should embrace British culture.
But the chairman of the local Mosque confirmed that a petition was circulating among Muslim residents calling for Mr Kumarasiri to go.
Aurangzeb Kahn said: ‘There has been concern that people can be denied Post Office services because they can’t speak English.
‘There is a strong feeling among some local people that this is wrong.
‘A single employee should not have the right to make that decision, especially if he is an employee of what is a public facility provided by the Government.’
Mr Kahn confirmed that local Muslims have started a petition calling for Mr Kumarasiri’s dismissal but stressed the move had no connection with his Mosque,
He added that the Mosque wanted to investigate the issue moire fully before making any further comment.
The controversial ban was a major talking point among many Muslims attending prayers today in an area of Nottingham with a large Urdu-speaking Pakistani community.
One man, who refused to be named, said: ‘There is a lot of anger about this.
‘We understand his point but it can take years to learn English and there are some elderly people who are too old to learn.
‘A lot of people think he is wrong and want him gone.’
Mr Kumarasiri, who was inundated with cards and messages of support from across the UK said: ‘I don’t expect everyone to agree with me.
‘It was inevitable that those who don’t want to be fully integrated into this country would do something like this.
‘For me it proves that there are elements out there who have no intention of ever [becoming] integrated.
‘But I’ve had dozens of letters, cards and phone calls all supporting my stand.
‘I’m really pleased with some of the letters which are from immigrants who came here without a word of English but taught themselves the language because they are determined to be British.’
A steady stream of well-wishers have also travelled to the 40-year-old father-of-two’s post office to voice their support.
Police have also been keeping a discreet eye on the premises to ensure he did not attract the wrong sort of attention from people who may resent his new found celebrity status.
Mr Kumarasiri added that he understood that his employers, Newrose Personnel Ltd, had discussed his ban but he had heard nothing from them about his future.
Yesterday a spokesman for the employment agency refused to comment and referred all calls to the Post Office.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: ‘Post Office branches are a vital part of all communities and are open to all customers.
‘We are taking steps to ensure that this happens at Sneinton Boulevard Post Office.’
Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats distanced the party from Mr Kumarasiri, who claims to be a Lib Dem member on his local Gedling Borough Council.
A spokesman for the party said: ‘Mr Kumarasiri has not been a party member since October 2007 when his membership lapsed.’

Norooz greetings to all Mankind and particularly to those who celebrate this great Day. Norooz is the celebration of life and fertility. Its origin fades into history. This is the oldest festivity alive and it will live as long as this planet lives. Ten thousand years from now, the world will be a different place. All races will merge and become indistinguishable.
Nationality would make no sense. Long after religions are thrown in the dustbin of history along with their festivities, the Mother Earth will keep celebrating Norooz in the vernal equinox as she has been doing for billions of years. Trees will blossom, deserts will bloom and life will burst with its glory and beauty.
Happy Norooz!

March 19, 2009:Karachi, Pakistan. The death toll of those who died after consuming poisonous liquor has reached 23 with the deaths of three friends in Mujahid Colony.
The deceased, Arshad, 45, Nadeem, 32 and Javed, 35 were all residents of Mujahid Colony, within the jurisdiction of Nazimabad Police Station and were laborers by profession. With their deaths, the unofficial death toll has risen to 23, although officially, it is said that 18 people have died after consuming the spurious liquor.
“The deceased were friends who bought the spurious liquor from Lyari and consumed it with other friends,” SHO Changaiz Khan told Daily Times. He said that the victims consumed the liquor a few days ago. Arshad’s family did not admit him to any hospital because they feared the police. However, on Tuesday, they rushed him to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) as his condition worsened, the officer said. The third friend, Nadeem, was admitted to the JPMC four days ago and died on Monday.

A sure cure for the sadness of abandonment by the entire world — is some old fashioned Jewish schtick.
Okay, that may be overstating the remedial value of humor, but I found this video just before I found the dreadful headlines in the previous post, and dammit, I’m going to post it.

On Friday (13 March), armed men fired on residents in a car, injuring three, while suspected rebels attacked a police post in Jan, stabbing a policeman’s wife. But Saturday’s attack was the first in years in which a government soldier was killed. The region, rich in natural resources but impoverished, lies 2,050 miles (3,300 kilometers) east of the capital Jakarta. It was brought under formal Indonesian rule in a stage-managed vote by 1,000 community leaders that was internationally dismissed as a sham. The small, poorly armed movement has been struggling for independence for decades

During World War II Netherlands East Indies (to become Indonesia) fell under Japanese Occupation and subsequently gained its independence during the Indonesian National Revolution from 1945 to 1950. Netherlands New Guinea (Western New Guinea), on the other hand, was only partially occupied by Japanese forces (along the north coast) and was not part of the Dutch-Indonesian agreement on Indonesian independence in December 1949. Its pre-war colonial relationship with the Netherlands was continued including the development of independent civil services and the election of a national New Guinea Council in January 1961 which was inaugurated in April 1961.White House advisors McGeorge Bundy and Robert Komer from April 1961 lobbied US President John F. Kennedy to negotiate for Indonesia the trade of West New Guinea to Indonesian control; the resulting New York Agreement was drafted by Robert Kennedy and signed by the Netherlands, Indonesia and United Nations in August 1962.
Although the Netherlands had insisted the West New Guinea people be allowed Self-determination in accord with the United Nations charter and General Assembly Resolution 1514 (XV) which was to be called the “Act of Free Choice”; the New York Agreement instead provided a seven year delay and gave the United Nations no authority to supervise the act.
The legitimacy of this transfer was not recognized by the Papuan population, the majority of whom have continued civil disobedience by raising the West Papua Morning Star flag each year on the 1 December although this action is illegal under Indonesian law and may result in imprisonment of seven to twenty years if caught and handed over to the police for prosecution.
In October 1968 Mr Nicolaas Jouwe, member of the New Guinea Council and of the National Committee elected by the Council in 1962, lobbied the United Nations claiming 30,000 Indonesian troops and thousands of Indonesian civil servants were repressing the Papuan population. According to US Ambassador Galbraith the Indonesian Foreign Minister Adam Malik also believed the Indonesian military was the cause of problems in the territory and the number of troops should be reduced by at least one half.
Ambassador Galbraith further described the OPM to “represent an amorphous mass of anti-Indonesia sentiment” with “possibly 85 to 90 percent [of Papuans], are in sympathy with the Free Papua cause or at least intensely dislike Indonesians”.
Brigadier General Sarwo Edhie oversaw the design and conduct of the “Act of Free Choice” which took place from 14 July to 2 August 1969.
The United Nations representative Ambassador Oritiz Sanz arrived on 22 August 1968 and made repeated requests for to the Brigadier General for Indonesia to allow a one man one vote system (a process known as a referendum or plebiscite) but these requests were refused on terms that the New York Agreement did not specify that the general public be allowed to vote. One thousand and twenty five Papuans were selected from and instructed on the required procedure for the act. The resulting vote was unanimous for integration, but by many Papuans and representatives of foreign governments, claim the result was rigged by the Indonesian Government.
In response, Oom Nicolas Jouwe and two OPM commanders, Seth Jafeth Roemkorem and Jacob Hendrik Prai, planned to announce Papuan Independence in 1971. On 1 July 1971 Roemkorem and Prai declared a Republic of West Papua, and drafted a constitution.
Conflicts over strategy between Roemkorem and Prai soon initiated a split of the OPM into two factions; the PEMKA lead by Prai, and TPN lead by Roemkorem. This greatly weakened OPM’s ability as a centralized combat force. It remains widely used, however, invoked by both contemporary fighters and domestic and expatriate political activists.
In 1982 a OPM Revolutionary Council (OPMRC) was established, and under the chairmanship of Moses Werror the OPMRC has sought independence through an International Diplomacy campaign. OPMRC aims to obtain international recognition for West Papuan independence through international forums such as the United Nations, The Non-Aligned Movement of Nations, The South Pacific Forum, and The Association of South East Asian Nations.
In 1984 OPM staged an attack on Jayapura, the provincial capital and a city dominated by non-Melanesian Indonesians. The attack was quickly repelled by the Indonesian military, who followed it with broader counter-insurgency activity. This triggered an exodus of Papuan refugees, apparently supported by the OPM, into camps across the border in Papua New Guinea.
In the mid-1990s, the organization gained renewed prominence and greater support among indigenous Papuans. This was fueled in large part by anger over the actions of the gold mining corporation Freeport-McMoRan, which is accused of environmental damage and of supporting alleged human rights abuses by the Indonesian military. In separate incidents in January and August 1996, OPM captured European and Indonesian hostages; first from a research group and later from a logging camp. Two hostages from the former group were killed and the rest were released.
In July 1998 the OPM raised their independence flag at the Kota Biak water tower on the island of Biak. They stayed there for the following few days before the Indonesian Military broke the group up using force.
Reports of a massacre have since surfaced.
From a speech by Theys Eluay in 1998…
“The truth is that we have never been part of Indonesia, so
we aren’t leaving. The truth is that Indonesia attached
itself to the Papuan people like a parasite.
If we are to advance our struggle towards gaining our
independence, we need to pursue it within the corridor of
peace and love.”
From a speech by Theys Eluay in 2001, just before he was assassinated…
“Our flag hasn’t flown for so many years.
We’re in the midst of an evil nation.
In the mouth of a tiger. But it’s God’s will.
Our prayers that the flag will fly will be answered.
I’m prepared to go to my grave, but the flag will fly. It will fly.
That’s perfectly natural for me. I don’t mind. It’s in God’s hands.
But we will not be under the Indonesians.”
“The crimes committed against the people of West Papua
are some of the most shameful of the past years. The
Western powers have much to answer for, and at the very
least should use their ample means to bring about the
withdrawal of the occupying Indonesian army and
termination of the shameful exploitation of resources and
destruction of the environment and the lives and societies
of the people of West Papua, who have suffered far too
much.”
Professor Noam Chomsky
